Dear
Parents,
We are
off to a terrific start this year! The
children and I have been having great fun getting to know each other and
learning the daily routines of being in school.
Now the pace will begin to pick up as we head into October with lots of
fun activities and special things planned!
To help you prepare, I have highlighted some things you will need to
know:
Today is the
first time prizes are awarded for earning 4 stickers for making good
choices. A few children are a sticker or
two behind the others. Please remind
them of the importance of being a good listener (and keeping their frog on the
lily pad!) so they may choose a prize as well.
Beginning
on October 4, we will visit our school library each Tuesday to enjoy a story
with our librarian and to check out a book for one week. Please help your child develop the habit of
putting the book back in their school bag when they have finished reading it.
They will gain a sense of responsibility when they return their books on time.
Thursday,
October 6 – ORANGE DAY – We will celebrate by
wearing the color orange and bringing in an orange show-and-tell. A basket will be outside the classroom door
with tape and markers. Please label your
child’s show & tell with their name and leave it in the basket. *Help your child practice verbal skills by
describing the item to you ahead of time.*
Tuesday,
October 11 – Picture Day – Order forms have
already been sent home. Even if you do
not plan to purchase your child’s photos, please allow them to have their
picture taken so they may be included in our class composite.
Thursday,
October 13 – Field Trip to Westview Orchards
on Van Dyke in Washington
Township . There will be no school for us that day. We
will meet at the orchard at 9:15 with our tour beginning at 9:30 and concluding
at 11:00. Please RSVP no later than Tuesday,
October 11.
Tuesday,
October 18 – Autumn Leaves - We will be making a
special project and will need some fresh fall leaves. Please have your child collect a variety of
shapes and send them to school in a bag marked with his/her name.
Thursday,
October 20 – Annual Pumpkin Palooza 5:30 to 7:00 PM No regular
preschool that day so we may prepare the room for this fun evening of food and
fellowship for families! RSVP requested.
Friday,
October 28 – School-wide Fall Festival 5PM to 8 PM Please join us for
a fun, safe alternative to Halloween in the multi-purpose room and
gymnasium. Your little one is welcome to
dress in costume, play an assortment of games and you can all enjoy some
great refreshments!
Looking
ahead to November…We will celebrate and
give thanks for God’s Blessings with a classroom “Feast Day” on Tuesday,
November 22 during the last hour of each class.
Preschool families are invited to join us during that time, so please
mark your calendars now so that all children have someone special there.
Classroom
needs: paper grocery bags
Have a
great month and enjoy the beautiful colors of God’s creation!
In His
Love and Service,
Lori
