December 2011 Newsletter
Three Year Old Preschool
Dear
Parents,
The season of Advent is a time for us as
Christian people to remember, repent and rejoice! We remember God’s promise of a Savior, and our repenting ultimately
becomes rejoicing through the coming of Jesus Christ. It
is my prayer that in keeping Jesus as the focus of our celebration, we will all
find the quiet peace, gentle love and great happiness of the first Christmas in
our hearts and homes during the busy days ahead.
- Thursday, December 1 – Angels
- Tuesday, December 6 – Candy Cane Day
·
Thursday, December 8 – Reindeer Day
·
Tuesday, December 13 – Gingerbread Day
·
Thursday, December 15 – Happy Birthday Jesus
Party
Instead of the usual gift
exchange, it has become a tradition that I ask each child to bring in a
non-perishable food item on the day of the party. Our gift to Jesus will be helping those in
need through our donations to “Carol’s Cupboard”, the food bank at Our Shepherd
Lutheran Church. We will wrap the items
and place them under our class tree, so please send in a piece of wrapping
paper to fit your item as well.
Along with our regular
healthy snack that day, we will celebrate with a birthday cake for Jesus! If you
are willing to bake a small cake for this purpose, please let me know. We will need one cake for each class. Also, I will be putting together birthday party treat bags for the
children to take home. If you would like
to help with this, please send in a class quantity (18 – AM; 12 – PM) of a
small treat such as stickers, candy, or small, inexpensive toys. To be included, I will need any donated items
for the treat bags by Tuesday, December
13. Thursday, December 15 will be
our last day of class before Christmas vacation. The January calendar will be sent home on
this day. School resumes for the 3’s on Tuesday,
January 3, 2012.
Another reminder to please send your child to
school with appropriate clothing as the weather gets colder and the possibility
of snow arises. We will continue to go
outside when time and the weather allow; snow pants and boots, mittens and hats
will be needed. Even if there is no
snow, boots are helpful to keep your child’s feet warm, dry and clean. It is very important that all
these items are clearly labeled with
your child’s name to help ease our efforts to get everyone dressed in a
timely fashion! Also, please store these
outerwear items in a separate bag rather than in your child’s school
bag.
Moms ~ Please remember to send in your RSVP in
regards to the annual Advent by Candlelight event. We would love to have you join us!
Thank you to everyone for your support to me and
to each other at this busy time of year.
May the Baby in the manger be a source of strength for all of us as our
hearts and voices join with the angels, singing praises to the newborn King!
In
His Love and Service,
